DELOS ISLAND

At 10am o'clock we took the boat from the old port of Mykonos Town towards the Island of Delos, where we arrived 45 minutes later. The last boat leaves from Delos Island at 3pm, so we had about 3 hours to visit the island.

The Terrace of the Lions is probably the most populat place in the Island of Delos

It's worth visiting this island because it was so important in the past as a sanctuary and as a trading center. However all the monuments and buildings don't exist currently. Luckily a lot of restoration work is being done so that at least you can imagine how it was.

The Terrace of the Lions, the theater and the mosaics of some of the houses are what I liked the most.

After coming back to Mykonos Town and before having lunch, we visited the Paraportiani church (located near the port). Near this church we saw the famous Pelican of Mykonos.

We ate a souvlaki in Souvlike restaurant next to the bus station before catching a bus to the beach of Agios Ioannis. The beach was very quiet and we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon watching the Island of Delos from this beach.

When we came back to Mykonos Town we went again to the Little Venice to enjoy the sunset and to see how the last sunlight illuminate the houses of this famous area of the city.
