BALOS BEACH IN CRETE

The day was lovely and at 8 am o'clock we were ready on the coach driving to Kissamos, the port from where the boat of Gramvoussa Balos Cruises leaves to Gramvoussa and Balos.

Wonderful beach in Gramvoussa

For reaching the port of Kissamos we hired a transfer of an agency directly at the hotel. Since this agency buys the tickets at group rates, it's worth  going with them instead of looking for an alternative transportation.

In this boat tour, the first stop is in Gramvoussa to walk up to the castle after sailing around 50 minutes. The slope of the path is high and you have to wear sports shoes. We disembarked next to a beautiful beach of clear ant turquoise water where the path up to the castle begins. The views of this beach, and the beach of Balos from the Venetian Castle of Gramvoussa are really nice. In the old Venetian fortress, only the wall remains.

So this day we visited:

  • Gramvoussa
  • Balos Lagoon

We rested a bit in our room before heading to the beach. Beside the hotel we took a bus to the beach of Agios Apostoli, recommended by the hotel receptionist. The beach was quiet and with clear water.
