BARCELONA AND CATALONIA: BEACHES

As we are in summer (northern hemisphere), I would like to show you the most charming beaches in Catalonia I have visited until now. If you like going to the beach, you will enjoy them, I'm sure.

In Catalonia there are two kinds of beaches: along the coast of Girona you can enjoy the imposing and wild landscapes of la Costa Brava while taking a bath in the clear and turquoise water of a cove. On the other hand, the long and sandy beaches of Barcelona, like the ones of Sant Pol de Marand Tarragona will make you think you are close to paradise.

Next, these are my favourite beaches until now. Of course, there are fantastic beaches in Catalonia I haven't visited yet, but I hope to do it soon.

Other beaches I hope to visit soon:
  • More beaches and coves in la Costa Brava

I've just come across your blog and it's amazing! Such lovely photos.
I am coming to barcelona with my mother at the end of march and I'm looking for a beach that has beautiful clear water and coves.
I wnt to make a day trip to some beach that also has a nice area to wonder around.
I will be staying near Sants station so whatever around an hour/ hour half away from that would be fine.
if you could recommend me a place that would fantastic.
There's just so many to choose from and I think youd be able to give the best advice. Thank you.

Thanks a lot for your comment, Arosa.
Unfortunately by train you can go to many beaches from Barcelona but not to those with clear water. However you could go by train to Sitges or Sant Pol de Mar, which are typical nice villages with beautiful beaches.
You could go to Blanes too, which is not as nice but its beaches and coves are really beautiful.
Another option would be to go to Tossa de Mar by bus, a lovely town with clear beaches and coves with nice areas to wander around. I think the buses leave from Estació del Nord, where you can easily get from Sants Station or metro (stop Arc de Triomf).
In this blog I wrote posts about Sitges, Sant Pol de Mar, Blanes and Tossa de Mar where you can see pictures and get more information.
